"Permanency by the Numbers: Improving Dependency Caseflow Management Through Data-Driven Strategies"
Data-driven caseflow management is one of the most powerful tools available to dependency courts aiming for more timely permanency for abused and neglected children. Courts and child welfare agencies can use selected statistics and information to improve dependency case processing in general and to establish benchmarks which permit them to identify individual dependency cases in need of special attention. Attendees at this conference learned about and started the collaborative process necessary for effective data driven reform through two days of presentations and workshops. [Updated January 2005]

"Workload and Workforce Issues in Child Welfare"
The delivery of child welfare services is significantly affected by the ability of service delivery organizations to limit workers' caseloads and to recruit and retain competent, committed staff. Implementing the requirements of the Adoption and Safe Families Act of 1997, strategic responses to class action lawsuits, agencies' efforts to achieve accreditation, and states' efforts to address the Program Improvement Plans (PIP) resulting from their federal Child and Family Services Reviews (CFSR), have brought renewed urgency to recruitment and retention problems and reinforced the need for well-trained staff to carry out the complex functions of child welfare work.
